Better late than never/ Eye Candy Friday
I am starting to feel better, but the voice, well, lets just say that it is here, but I can't cheer or give a WOOOOHOOO without getting a funny look.
K had a field trip on Wednesday and this was a result.
Have a great weekend!

It's all good/Eye Candy Friday
As for my sockpal. Thank you for commenting on my last post. I don't think you are a crummy pal, I just hadn't heard from you and was getting worried. Now I know that you didn't forget about me and all is good. I can't wait to see the socks I know you are working so hard on.
And now for some eye candy. I did this about two weeks ago but forgot to post last week.
Have a great weekend!

He gets me/Eye Candy Friday
A couple of weeks ago Hubby was out of town for the weekend. I decided to take the boys hiking. While B was eating his snack he said, "Here mom, take a bite it is soooooo good, oh wait, take a picture first"
He knows me so well.
Have a great weekend!

Friday Eye Candy

There is our niece, nephew, and B.
Two more have been added to the brew. Another nephew and K.
You may recall the reason I was going through the old camera was because I we were looking into getting a new one. I am so excited because I did get a new one. I should say we got one. It is one of those combo gifts that is for both of us, but in all honesty we know who will be using it more often.
So without further ado, here is this weeks installment of Eye Candy Friday taken by my new camera.
Have a great weekend!

The Morning After

Eight of the last nine years Thanksgiving has been at our house. We would have all of our family and occasionally some friends come over to celebrate with us. I really enjoy having people over and entertaining. Though when we first decided to host Thanksgiving, my cousin had said that we would alternate between our houses.
Having thirty-some-od people in the house could be a little crazy, it really isn't that bad, afterall, we do it pot-luck style, so one person is not going crazy in their kitchen. This year was the first year we went to my cousin's house for Thanksgiving. So I feel like I really had it easy. All I had to make was the turkey, gravy, and cranberry sauce. It doesn't get much easier than that.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I did.

Embarrassing Moment no. 23452/Eye Candy Friday
I love the cold weather. I love having to bundle up. I just wish that I could keep bundled for more than four minutes without getting that "glow" as my mother calls it (I call it sweat). Right now our weather is in that tween stage. You know when it is too cold to go out without anything on, but even when you have your light bundles on, it is too hot.
I mean how embarrassing is this. Yesterday I had on a tank top with a thin light shirt over it and some jeans. When I went to pick B up from school, I desperately had to use the ladies room. When I was done and washing up, I looked at myself in the mirror. OMGosh! You would have thought that I had just ran a 5k or done some sort of workout.
It wasn't a pretty sight. I tried to fan myself off so I wouldn't look so bad, but honestly, there was no hope. I just had to walk around with my arms crossed hoping that no one would notice. I don't think it worked though. Oh well, maybe they thought that I just came from the gym.
Anyway, here is my Eye Candy Friday. See fall is finally here, sorta.

Have a great weekend!

A Day (or two) Late
The funny thing is, I thought that once both of the kids started school, I would have more time to do the things that I wanted to do versus the things that I had to do.
I was sooo wrong about that. I have two and a half hours, two days per week when both of the boys are in school. When the B's teacher sent home a paper asking what days parents were available to volunteer in the class, I naturally wrote Tuesday or Thursday. Little did I know that she would have me every Tuesday.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind volunteering in the class. I actually like it. I just didn't think that I would be in his class every week. I thought that it would be a once or twice a month type of thing.
With me in B's class on Tuesdays, that leaves me Thursdays to do what I want. Initially I thought that I would be spending a little more time (and money) in my LYS, but they don't open until 11 AM. I would have less than ten minutes to sit, knit, and shop before I had to go pick up the boys from school. So at this point in time, that is not going to happen. Maybe next year when K will be in school three days per week and B is in school all day.
For now on my free day, I will start to do things that I want to do. I just have to figure out what exactly that is besides knitting. Afterall, two and a half hours is a lot of time for someone who has not had two and half hours in five years, but not enough time to really lose myself like I know I can (and want to).
On the knitting note, Butterfly is still sitting waiting to be blocked and finished. I have a new project on the needles. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of it, but I am really enjoying it. I can't wait to finish and see how it looks when I'm done.
Finally, here is a pic for Eye Candy Friday on a Sunday.

Tailgating Anyone? / Eye Candy Friday
Around the time hubby and I got married, our team played against Hawaii for their season opener. My dad was born in Hawaii, but had not been back since he moved to Southern California when he was in his early teens. Football was all the motivation he needed to go back.
Unfortunately, hubby and I were not able to go on that trip with them. The school year for me had just started and hubby couldn't get the time off of work either. So while the rest of my family was enjoying Hawaii, hubby and I were here working.
Last year, we played Hawaii again for our season opener. We were able to go this time, all fourteen of us. It was great! This was the first time that I had been to Hawaii and I do look forward to returning. I'm thinking 2010, because that will be the season opener for us that year. Though in all honesty, I don't know if we (hubby, kiddos, & I) will be able to go for football because both of the kids will be in school at that time.
Why all this football talk? Saturday is our home opener. This means two things for me. Tailgating and knitting. Yup, that's right. The two actually go together very well. Since we will be there pretty much all day that means lots and lots of knitting for me.
There is another reason for the football talk, Eye Candy Friday.

This is a picture from the top of Diamond Head in Hawaii. It sure is great to reminisce.
Have a great weekend!

K's First Day and Eye Candy
On Tuesday morning, K was an emotional wreck. He started crying over things that normally wouldn't bother him. I attributed it to him having first day jitters. In fact this is what he looked like on the way to school.

If you look close enough you can see the tears on his face. It broke my heart.
While we were at school waiting for the classroom to open K kept saying, "You stay wit me at scoow today mommeeee."
I told him that I wasn't going to be able to stay with him, but that I would come back later with brother to pick him up. After hearing that, he got that little I'm about to break down into tears look on his face and then it registered that B and I would be back to pick him up (B starts school an hour earlier than K and was not with us at the time).
When his teacher opened the door K grabbed my hand for dear life and was reluctant to enter his class. I walked him into the classroom and honestly he really was not into the whole school thing, but I knew I had to encourage him.
"K do you want to play with the trains?"
"Wes, mommy."
But he was just standing there next to the trains, looking at them all the while I could tell that he was scared. Heck, I couldn't blame him, afterall this was the first time that he would be in the care of someone outside the family.
Then all of a sudden, he got a little spark in his eye and he was off. I looked to see where he was going to and wouldn't you know, look what he found:
The play-dough table. Needless to say, I was old news after that. At that point he could care less about me being gone. K looked up, gave me a kiss and then said, "Bye mommy, see euww waeighter."
