Waste not Want not

A few months ago, while doing some holiday shopping, I came across a cute t-shirt. The shirt had an angry cartoon-ish type of character's face and under the face she had her two thumbs up. Or should I say, I thought that she had her two thumbs up.

I guess you could say that my eyes were playing tricks on me. The first time I wore the shirt, a friend of mine started giggling and then gave me "the bird" in which I did the same in return. No biggie.

The friend then pointed out the picture on my t-shirt. All I could do was laugh because though, what the t-shirt was actually displaying fits my personality, it's not something that I would wear around especially being around kids as much as I am. Maybe at the age of eighteen during college, but definitely not now.

I even talked to my son's kindergarten teacher about it. She thought that the pic was of the thumbs up and told me not to worry, but that she could see why I was concerned.

I have another friend that asked why I just didn't get rid of the shirt. I have a couple of answers for that one. The first being that with the exception of the pic, it is a perfectly good tee. The second, it is a perfectly good tee.

So I came up with a solution. I decided that I was going to fix the t-shirt myself.

Nothing some fabric paint couldn't fix.

So all I can say for now is peace out.

Yes, it's a FO

Finally. Finally I am posting a finished picture of the sweater from the Red Sweater KAL. It's not like the sweater wasn't ready for its premiere. It's just that it is hard for me to get a picture of me in the sweater.

Not that I haven't tried, because believe me, I have tried. I let B & K both attempt, but you can imagine what pictures from 6 and 3 year olds look like. I kept asking hubby, but well, you know how that can sometimes go, with him getting home late and the lighting is not right and having other things to do.

I just had to take matters into my own hands. So the pic is courtesy of me and my tripod.

I know there is not as much detail in the pic as there would be if I could get someone else to take it, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Right?

He had a good day.

Where do I begin? Friday was B's 6th birthday. This was the first time that hubby had to work on his birthday and the first time that we had so many other things that we had to do that was not related to celebrating his day on his day. Not that we didn't have anything planned, we are having a party for him this weekend.

Though we did have a little surprise for him on Saturday.

The California Science Center has a Star Wars exhibit. When we got in the car to go to the Science Center we told B that we were going to go to a football game (the Science Center is right next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum). B was not pleased the entire car ride down.

When we pulled into the parking lot, he then made the comment that we were not parking in the right area to go to the game. He maybe 5 6, but he is observant.

He then noticed a big Star Wars sign on the side of the Science Center. He had a puzzled, confused, and excited look all at the same time. When we walked into the building, this is who we were greeted by.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit. As you can see from the photo above, K could hardly keep his eyes off of the pamphlet given to us at the door.

The one area that hubby and I were having some serious problems with, was the gift that we wanted to get B for his birthday.

See there has been one item that B has been wanting for the last eight months. The Lego's Imperial Star Destroyer. When he first said that he wanted it, we told him that he would have to buy it himself. He finally saved enough money only to find out that it is completely sold out.

Hubby and I have been searching for it since September with no luck. We had even gone to the Lego's store only to be told that they are back ordered until at least March. Hubby finally told me when I was on my way out the other day that we should just order it. I agreed and told him that we could do it when I got home.

While I was looking for something completely unrelated to B's birthday present, I happened to stumble across this.

Hubby and I were so thrilled to find it, we couldn't wait until his party to give him his gift.

If you could have seen the look on B's face when he realized what we had gotten him. He sat there frozen with his mouth open for a good fifteen seconds before jumping up and down.

And in case you wanted to know it only took hubby and I approximately eight hours to put it together.

Think Blue

I am really having a hard time with Project Spectrum 2.0, or I should say I was having a hard time until I realized how many blue items/objects we have in the house. Up until this point all I really did was change the colors on the top of my blog to reflect the colors for PS2.0.

So here is my first real post for PS2.0.

BTW I don't have a think blue sign in my house. It is on one of the hills as you enter Dodger Stadium. They even have it all over their website.

All in due time

When the kids were off, we had gone to the "Happiest Place on Earth." While we were there, the kid took this pic.

I get a chuckle every time I see it.

I haven't picked up the needles in two days now. It's not that I don't want to. Oh, how I do. Have you seen the Entrelac Socks in IK's Spring 2007? I absolutely adore them. I have yarn. I have needles. I have to finish my other projects first :(

I told myself that I wouldn't start another project until I finished the other two. It's not much that I have to do either, but I just don't want to do it. And I made the commitment that I wouldn't start until I finished.

So, I am off to finish this and hopefully something to wear under this. Oh, I did finish this, but I don't have any pics of me in it yet...soon, soon I hope.

Almost Finished

After I finished the sweater for the Red Sweater KAL and was putting my needles away, I noticed something. Let's see if you can tell.

Can you tell? I know that it is very subtle, but the yarn bled off onto my needles. If you can't tell from the pic above, I circled the needles that were affected in the pic below.

Can you tell now?

The sweater is being blocked. It took almost twenty minutes to get the yarn to rinse clear, but I really think I am going to like this one.

The yarn laying across the top is the lifeline I added just in case I decided I didn't like the neck. Though I don't think I am going to have to take it out, I really do like it.

One thing that I did notice while I was blocking this was that I have two projects sitting there waiting to be finished. So, until I finish those two projects, I don't think I will be casting on any other big projects.

I wonder how long it will be?

Great Weekend

This morning when I opened my eyes, this was the first thing I saw.

It was so beautiful I could not resist taking the pic. I think I set a record this past weekend. This is the first time I turned my computer on in three days. Wow.

I did have a nice weekend as I hope all of you did as well. Hubby was out of town for a "guys" weekend, which left me at home with my boys, sort of. I play soccer on Friday evenings, so my mom watched the kiddos. The game was a late one, so they ended up sleeping over, which was very nice for me.

When I woke up on Saturday, it was nice not having to care for anyone but me. I ended up knitting all morning, finishing my red sweater for the KAL. It still needs to be blocked, but for some reason, I keep putting it off. Eventually it will be blocked though.

My Grandmother, who lives with my parents, called me late Saturday morning and asked if I wanted to go to the movies. How could I say no, after all she does for me. We went to see "Letters from Iwo Jima" I liked the movie. I went in with no expectations, as a result it was much better than I anticipated. The boys didn't even mind that I was gone, though they did call during the movie to ask if I would bring some ice cream home for them.

Sunday, we went to a friends house for the game. In all honesty, I watch the Super Bowl not for the game, but for the commercials, so I was indifferent to who won or lost. Except, I won one of the quarters for the pool that I was in. YAY!

Now I have some yarn money. Oh, wait, no I don't. I'm doing this. Which really really sucks right now. See, I joined this not realizing that the yarn for some of the months colors is non-existent. February's blue, grey, & white being one of them.

I will come up with something though even if it is my favorite pictures with those colors in it.

I am one of those people who believes in reinforcement, weather it is positive or negative. I also believe in a reward type of system. This was my reward.

I reached my running goal for the month of January. WoooHoooo!!!! As my reward I went and got a pedicure. Ahhhhhhh. After all of the pounding and work that my feet have been doing to reach my goal, this was the least I could do for them.

I know I had mentioned how I do my own nails before because of my fear of nail problems, but I really wanted to just be able to sit and relax. Also, I figured if the feet are running at least 33.5 miles each month a pedi is well deserved.

I am almost finished with the sweater for the KAL. In fact I should be able to post some pics next time.
